Beautiful Kerala.



Kozhikode, previously know as Calicut. It is a most important region of Malabar in Yesteryears, was the capital of the powerful Zamorins and also a prominent trade and commerce center.

Kozhikode district was found in 1498 by Portuguese navigator Vasco Da Gama. Vasco Da Gama landed at the Kappad sea.The name Kozhikode is derived from the Malayalam word for the crowing of a cock.

A locally made variety of checked cloth called Calico (from Calicut) was a popular item of export.Kozhikode has several institutions of higher learning including a National Institute of Technology and an Indian Institute of Management.



Kozhikode Beach famous for the spectacular sunset views seen the seashore. The Beach has wo sea piers almost 125 years old extending well inside the sea are a specialty and a lighthouse that offer stunning views of the seashore and the Arabian Sea.



The place surrounded by the fort was known as Koyil (palace) Kotta (fort) and hence the name of the place became Kozhikode. Foreigners called it by different names, for Arabs it was Kalikat, for Chinese it was Kalifo while the city is known to the outside world by its European name.



Kozhikode city is the marketing centre for commodities like pepper, coconut, coffee, rubber, lemon grass oil and etc., produced in Kozhikode and the neighbouring districts of Wayanad, Malappuram and Kannur.

  • Art Gallery and Krishna Menon Museum.

  • Vadakara

  • Chaliyam

  • Kappad

  • Mananchira Square.
